7. Jewish Warsaw
The Monument to the Heroes of the Ghetto
A monument expressing the tragedy of the Ghetto and dedicated to the heroes of the Uprising. The boundaries of the Ghetto are marked out in inscribed, black basalt stone on street corners.
Umschlagplatz Monument
A simple black and white, marble monument is situated over the place where the Jewish people were herded and selected before transportation to the extermination camps. On its walls are the names of some of the Holocaust victims.
The Warsaw Jewish Cemetery
With its acreage of 33 ha and 250 thousands of burials, belongs to the greatest Jewish necropolises around the world. The first burial was dated from 1807. It is also one of few Jewish cemeteries in Poland that are still functioning. Among many traditional matzevahs and ohels (tombs) one can see a heart-touching Monument for the Memory of Children - Holocaust Victims.
The ŻOB Bunker
Mound with a stone in memory of chief of the Jewish Fighting Organisation (ŻOB), and in memory of ŻOB headquarter. Seuranded by German troops, they all committed suicide on May 8th 1943.
